PTFE Products

The exceptional strength of the carbon-fluorine bond and a high molecular weight give PTFE a variety of outstanding properties as detailed below.
  1. Temperature range of -200C to +250C.
  2. A resistance to virtually all corrosive chemicals with the exception of fluorine, some fluorochemicals and molten alkali metals.
  3. A very low coefficient of friction.
  4. Non-flammable.
  5. Non-ageing properties.
  6. Non-toxic.
  7. Anti-stick properties.
  8. Excellent tensile strength.
  9. Moisture and U.V. resistance.
  10. Excellent dielectric properties.

Filled PTFE : In spite of the above properties, pure PTFE is inadequate for some engineering uses. Mechanical applications especially require better physical characteristics. A proper combination of inorganic and metallic fillers will further enhance the materials creep and wear resistance, thermal conductivity, dimensional stability and hardness. Most properties and especially tensile strength drop sharply with the percentage by volume of the incorporated filler. Where parts need to retain a degree of elasticity, the compound used will generally be low on filler. If there is a problem of friction under load, a high filler content should be used. The more common fillers are 15% glass, 25% glass, 60% bronze,15% graphite,15% glass / 5% graphite and 25% carbon.
